Nigeria Mining Week: A dynamic platform to shape our collective vision.

Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Honourable Dr. Dele Alake, states that this year’s theme, “From the Inside Out: Building the Mining Sector to be the Cornerstone of Nigeria’s Economy,” highlights the ministry’s strong dedication to developing a mining sector that drives national wealth, promotes sustainable progress, and powers the country’s industrial growth.

Speaking to the media in Abuja on Tuesday, the Minister made these remarks ahead of the ninth edition of the Nigeria Mining Week conference and expo. The event is scheduled to take place from 18th to 20th November 2024 at the Ajuba Continental Hotel in the Nigerian capital. It is organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN), in partnership with PwC Nigeria and VUKA Group, with the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development serving as the official host.

“It is a powerful forum where we refine our shared vision, aligning our goals to create a robust, self-reliant mining sector. ”

Dr. Dele Alake reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to attracting reliable investment through partnerships that benefit both Nigeria and investors. He stressed the importance of local value addition, job creation, and economic empowerment.

The minister emphasized transparency, accurate geoscientific data, and strong security measures to build trust and curb illegal mining. He also highlighted plans to formalize artisanal and small-scale mining, ensuring safer, more profitable, and technology-driven operations—placing people at the heart of sector transformation.

The event has become a key fixture.

Representing Nigeria’s numerous artisanal and small-scale miners, the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN)—a founding partner of Nigeria Mining Week—voiced appreciation for the continued support of the Ministry and fellow organizers in maintaining the momentum of this flagship annual event.

Speaking to the media, MAN President Dele Ayanleke praised the event’s growing impact, stating that Nigeria Mining Week has firmly established itself as the premier platform for evaluating industry progress, shaping future strategies, and spotlighting cutting-edge technologies and innovations. The event brings together a broad spectrum of international stakeholders and solution providers, all focused on unlocking the nation’s mineral wealth for economic growth and prosperity.
